Seriously thinking of going down the folding camper route but the issue of condensation keeps coming up in various forums.
How much of an issue is it in reality. Surely good ventilation should prevent this. Also, for chilly evenings we will buy a small 2kw floor blown air heater. Would this affect the amount of condensation? When I ask, I'm thinking about early and late season when nights are cooler.
Also, people talk about condensation will non slatted beds. Are we talking soaking mattresses?
All experience gratefully recieved.
We have noticed condensation beneath the mattresses of our trailer tent, which lie on a solid hardboard base. the problem is obviously caused due to the bed lying above a pocket of cold air when folded out. The mattresses are only 3-4" thick foam but and the condensation doesn't seem to soak in much, if at all, certainly not enough to make the mattress feel wet. We got into the habit of shoving something under the mattresses to lift it off the bed base and airate when we went out. The problem is no doubt worse in a folder if you are cooking and spending a lot of time in the pretty much sealed up main compartment and perhaps with a slightly more plush mattress? As you have said, good ventialtion is the key to reducing it and your electric heater should help as long as the hot air has somewhere to get out.
Hi there we have a Pathfinder q6 and have had no worries so far on condensation.
Have only had this in the awning on plastic windows which can easily be wiped off and ventilated in the morning. We do have a 2kw heater in the cabin and a 2kw heater in awning but so far both switched of once we go to sleep.
I would not panic over the condensation as all have said as long as you ventilate it is the same in any camping unit
