Anyone have any advice on the best way to protect wheels from standing on one part of the tyre over winter. F.C is kept in a garage so not always easy to ensure that wheels are moved to another 'piece' of tyre without jacking tyre up to move it round. I understand that there are metal supports that can be bought to replace wheels. As anyone used these?
I've got my FC on axle stands. Easy to remove if the unit needs moving and keeps the wheel off the ground so no weight on the suspension / tyres. A lot cheaper than winter wheels too.

If you do use winter wheels make sure you are still covered with your insurance.

How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
Blueexpo97 Thanks for the reminder over insurance. F.C is in a locked private garage in the garden with a locked gate so no problem with using winter wheels

we used to put it on winter wheels, why would this invalidate your insurance? surely it's less likely to be pinched. Our insurance didn't even need a wheel clamp on. Even if it had a wheel clamp on you wouldn't get that off in a hurry if your garage was on fire to be fair!
why would this invalidate your insurance? Because you can't move it in a hurry if there is a fire, no wheels, no shifty, no insurance payout.

OK, whether you have "winter wheels", clamps, axle stands, whatever - get in touch with your insurance company, they'll tell you what's acceptable in the event of a claim.

Insurance would be valid so no problem with fixing winter wheels. Main thing is it would be on locked premises which are declared in the policy schedule. I must admit if garage was on fire I would sooner let the thing burn than risk my life to get F.C. out!

Yes, standard 2 ton axle stands. (Pathfinder is 1 ton) Got them in Lidl a few years back, they have them quite regularly, less than a tenner I think. Put them under the axle rather than under the chassis, with wheels about 1 inch off the ground. Handbrake off. I give the wheels a spin every month or so to keep the wheel bearings greased and the brake shoes from sticking. The camper is under cover but outside. Camper came out of hibernation after last winter with no issues.

Insurance?
What if the garage goes on fire? There's no way you'll get the camper out in a hurry with "winter wheels" on it!
Pretty well all insurance, and fire brigade advice, says ... 'Get out and don't stop to take anything with you'
I suspect getting your FC out would be quite a way down the list anyway!
