Collected our 2008 solena from dealer this week and have to store it outside. We live in coastal location and are considering removing all the canvas from the main unit frame to store inside for winter.we can open unit safety in drive so access not a problem. Can't seem to find any guidance on how to do it and wonder if anyone here has any tips.

I don't remove the canvas from my pathfinder this is the third year that it will sit on the drive for the winter. I have experienced not detrimental effects so far? My old TT went through four winters in the same way. As long as it is packed away dry and clean, no damp anywhere with a good transport cover and winter cover you won't have a problem. There ia a great deal on here that cover the subject. Just remmember it will be tragic if you damage the canvas trying to remove it.

Hi We have a Solerna hard top, if everything ls dry when you put it away it should be okay.If you are worried you could have a cover made for it as we have. It cost about £70 from a trailer spares supplier.

                  Still flying free.

Whilst I agree with the above posters in that your canvas should be fine outside over winter,in your case,coastal area,smallish tt,I would take it off. You can then do any maintenance on the trailer with less hassle,and fix any loose stitching etc. in comfort. As long as you hav a dry,mouse free place to store it,it will save you worrying over winter.

Thanks miserly.....and everyone we did indeed bite the bullet and opened her up and removed the canvas. For anyone else who is wondering ...it came off really easily. Rather than slide it off and risk straining the canvas, Richard unscrewed the long slider from the bed cabin and the long slider from the fibre glass lid then eased the canvas off from back to front. Took all the liners out first. Remains to be seen if it will go back in as easily!

Hi
I take my Solena canvas off every winter and store it inside. As you have found it is really quite straight forward. I manage mine on my own and by using props and the yard wall to keep the lid up and stop straining the fabric. Bit more tricky to put back on especially when fastening the canvas on to the poles, but will be easier with two I am sure. Try feeding it back through the long sliders without unscrewing them though.
I think I do the bed slider first, then I raise the lid half way (by moving the trailer against the yard wall so the lid is vertical, then I slot the 2 sides using props to hold the lid at an angle. Once that is on I open it right out and secure it to the poles, then fasten the cabin inner into place. Good luck!

Seen your posts....very informative are going to so use your previous steps to put the awning up. Picked it up too late in the season to use it but are really looking forward to getting out there later this year. Your previous post mentioned you removed your canvas which gave us the courage to give it a go. Really pleased we did especially given the coastal weather in the south west! Will post how it goes putting it back on.....thanks for the tips......when do you put yours back together?

Normally put her back together in March although may not get away until April.
Glad that you can pick some tips up. When I got mine it was all trial and error. Even now I tend to set up differently depending on the weather. Have been lucky never to have had to set up in heavy rain, but have had a few windy set ups. Some people recommend zipping the awning on and pulling it back across the top of the cabin before putting the poles up, but that has never worked for me although may be better if two of you. I also find that tieing the awning to the front poles before extending and tightening the rest of the awning really helps keep it stable

Thanks for that...we have a wardrobe full of trailer tent! Mattress just fits along the back and sack upon sack of main tent, awning and spare bedroom (may sell that bit on...can't see us needing it..unless the dog wants a room of her own!)3sacks of poles plus vaccum shrunk inner bits! .... I must admit I leave the poles in the trailer base along with some of the other equipment and put a couple of those condensation traps in just to draw out any excess damp. Everything else is in either the airing cupboard, loft, cupboard under the stairs or elsewhere where there is a space! I also use the vacuum bags for curtains and liners.
