Hi Anjybabes & welcome to the forum
Can you remove the canvas from the trailer? If so, lay the damaged section of the roof out on a flat board or table, cut the canvas patch to size, and sew the patch onto the roof with a hem turned over all around the edge. If you know anyone with a treddle or old hand sewing machine, borrow it! If you have to use a modern sewing machine, check whether it is strong enough by testing on a bit of scrap canvas (or demim) first. Whichever machine you use, make sure you use a needle for denim or for leather, and 'strong thread'. If you have to sew it by hand, make sure you have a thimble to protect your finger!
If you can't remove the canvas from the trailer, measure & cut your patch, fold over a hem all around, hold it in place with just a few spots of glue, then get someone (probably standing on a step ladder!) outside, and yourself inside and you pass the needle through to each other - some people will advise you to use an awl to sew it, but I found an awl difficult to use, so I did the 'pass the needle through' repair on our trailer tent, found it much easier Hope you get on okay.
