Hi guys,

I need to replace the mattress in our sunncamp 350 se.   I am at a loss on what to do foam is horribly expensive so I have been looking for some alternatives. I was wondering what you guys did, is there some wonderful alternative or am I biting the bullet and spending £160

Mattress toppers work well, or cheap duvets on top of the origional mattresses work well also.

We found that by putting duvets over the mattresses and then a top cover worked really well and made the beds comfy again, plus they were nice and warm.

I have a thread somewhere about steaming mattress foam. Springs back to life quite well actually.

Think this yr though, we will add memory foam toppers for added comfort.

We have put a argos memory foam topper on top of the matresses in our FC in our old TT I used a single one on top of the zip, both have worked well- I think the topper will woek out cheaper than new foam

We had similar dilemma. My husband was cold and uncomfy on the fibre mattress (Cabanon Stratos). We opted to replace our fibre mattress for two Kampa Fat Boys, SIM. The kids are still on the fibre ones on their side of the tent.
We're storing the old mattress in the loft and the two SIMS are permanently kept on the trailer tent bed. They are 10cm deep when inflated. Comfortable and much warmer.

Ikea foam 10cm mattress, just cut to size. I did this with a Stanley knife then adjusted the cover. They're not expensive. I've since read that the easiest way to cut them down is with an electric carving knife!

I replaced the foam beds in our Combi Camp unit with 4 inch Memory foam topper.
Brilliant.
I also added a 1 inch topper to our Motorhome beds as that makes it easier for my back.

I came on here today to ask a similar question, sorry OP for the hijack. When adding a memory foam topper, do you keep it on the bed when closed up. I was concerned A, whether the TT would close properly, and B, whether the topper stands the test of time being squished. TIA

I know when you buy a topper, you have to let it breath for at least 24 hours so it can inflate properly, I would want that when I arrived at the campsite every time.

I personally would remove them, but I remove the foam anyway when I remove the entire bedroom pods for storage

We have a Combi Camp and the memory foam simply replaced the ordinary foam and we leave them in the camper all the time, even in winter, though they are aired out well before we store the CC for winter.

Hi guys,

Have come up with a novel solution, ( I think!). I am going to glue some old foam bed mats together then lay the foam under the original foam of the tt, if that makes sense. I am hoping that by using enough for one side the wife and I will be more comfortable.   Thoughts are welcome, I don't know wether to stick it to the base or to lay it then lift after use!
