Just wondering what you leave in your FC's over winter. Just curious as to how damp they may get, not really thinking about leaving bedding in but I presume pots and pans and stuff like that are fine?
We took all the bedding and cushions out, including mattresses plus all of the food and liquids (loo chemicals etc.).
It was then covered with a couple of layers of bubble wrap, the transit cover, more bubble wrap then a Kampa cover. It was dry as a bone when we opened it up after winter.
We leave all the hardware in but take out all of the soft furnishings. FC is then stored in garage. Garage is secure and dry so probably could leave everything in but we are worried about the possibilty of vermin thinking soft furnishings would make good winter nesting material.
I leave everything in mine and have done so for the last 3 years and everything is fine.
Make sure it is absulutely dry before folding.
I place 2 old sleeping bags on top of the canvas, then a couple of layers of bubble wrap on top of these.
Before putting the transit cover on I then place 3 old feather pillows down the centre then put the transit cover on.
The pillows keep the transit cover slightly raised so no water collects on top.
I open it up once per month to air it out
hope this is of help
John
I removed all the canvas, the bedrooms and mattresses.
The rest stays in with a water trap inside to catch condensation.
Also have a winter cover over the whole lot.
Left on our drive over winter.
I do occasionally open it up to air it.
Looking forward to putting it all back together soon and start using it.
We leave everything in and have no probs (he said touching wood several times!) Having said that we are in an undercover storage unit. Any liguids, eg toilet chems are in the gas lockers.
