We have recently brought a FC and having small ones I wondered when everyone starts camping for the season. Being off the ground, running a blow air heater and electric blankets I thought April would be achievable and into late September/early October. I assume the canvas FC warm up quite quickly given the small space being warmed even if most escapes fairly quickly.
I’m not to concerned myself but worry that a 2 ½ and 11 month old might feel it a bit more than us adult. Any advice from seasoned campers would be appreciated.
We've been in March in the FC for the past couple of years...first year was awful as we just weren't prepared, got very cold during the day and struggled to get warm in the evening...last year was much better...we have the electric matress toppers that can be left on all night, so once in bed we were toasty warm.
We previously had a TT & now a FC, we use a small oil rad in the cabin & a halogen heater for the awning - have been toasty since April but on several occasion's Whit week has been freezing, last year our heater stopped working & we were frozen - so went to bed early
Now is a good time to get your heating sorted as come summer they won't be any in the shops.
Layers is the way to go for your little ones- we used Grobags & added blankets as needed at that age.
Now much old they are in sleeping bag but we are always snug with a 13 to duvet
We used to use our Pullman all year, had a fan heater and electric blanket, have pictures of it in thick snow one christmas in friends garden. Cheaper than B&B.
Main problem was drying it when we got home.
