Hmmm, maybe FB is worth looking at!

Just realised that my wife is on FB, so maybe worth her sticking it on there. I don't know FB at all so is there a group name, link etc. to that camping page?

I am a member of 3:

Preloved Caravan & Camping sales UK (nothing to do with preloved)

Caravans for sale of swap

Caravans, trailer tents, tents, trailers, camping equipment UK (This is the one I sold mine on).

Just search on facebook and they will come up, just add yourself to any you think will be useful.

Consider this, if you sell it on FB then you will save the ebay fees, it may be worth considering this when you price it to make it appealing.

Well I've sold two in the last week, the Raclet Cortina & Raclet Marathon, both just under the £500 mark.
Had them on eBay, gumtree, Facebook & preloved.
Nothing from preloved, total timewasters from Facebook and both sold within a couple of days from Gumtree.
Perhaps it's the lower price point ones that are selling?
We put the pennine fiesta on gumtree last month and it sold within the hour, again sub £500.

We sold our Pennine Pullman last week to a lovely couple. Had it advertised on preloved and gumtree and it was only on for a couple of days. This allowed us ti look for a newer model.

We first looked at the Conway Cardinals as we liked the layout. Most were out of our price range, but we found two in Scotland. The first was in Wick which was a bit further than i wanted to travel (8hr each way) so the seller said she would get it couriered to me. HELL NO. That sounded too dodgy and when i told them that i dont buy something like that without seeing it first, they got really shirty so goo riddance.

The second was much closer so went to look at it. It was supposed to be excellent condition and come with everything we needed. We got there and he said that he had a small accident putting it up and that there was a small tear in the fabric, small tear, it was huge there was a large buldog clip holdind the rip together and you could see a good half inch of rip protruding from each end of the clip. He then said he was having a bit if trouble putting it up something to do with the ratchet not catching, but he got it up eventually. HUGE WARNING.

He then said that when they were getting everything ready he went into the garaga to get the awning and could not find the poles. It turns out the person he bought the camper from still had the poles.

I think its a no brainer to say we didnt buy that camper.

Back home we decided to go for another folding camper like ou old pullman and saw an ad for a Pennine Sterling in Wales and we sent multiple lengthy emails to the sender to make sure it was what we wanted and it was. 3hr drive to wales and camper was just what we wanted and cople selling were lovely.

All we need now is to get away in it. Cant wait

no, i noticed that too. Over pricing alot.

We went to see a Sunncamp folding camper, I also sent lengthy messages but luckily only 45 mins away.

Got there and both light lenses were cracked, canvas was really thin in places and you could smell the damp. The canvas was stained with it and under all the seating.

The couple barely said a word to us either, was like getting blood out of a stone.

Ended up finding Raclet Globetrotter from Wales too, 6 hour round trip but got there and the chap was lovely, couldn't tell me enough about it.

When I sold mine, I bombarded the poor seller with pictures of EVERYTHING and full description as the weather was unreliable.

When they came to collect it of course it was raining, but because I had gone through everything, they were happy to take it unseen and unopened.

The devil is in the detail.

It does seem to be the case, of what I've seen on eBay anyway. As per my earlier post in this thread, our 2002 Conway Classic Trio hadn't sold after two listings on eBay, and that was with what I felt was a sensible starting price (£750) and a raft of pictures and extremely detailed description. Glad to say that it sold third time around, albeit with only one bid for the starting price.

The person hadnt even viewed it beforehand, but had had TTs in the past so when he came he didn't even want to see it opened up. I had the cover off, folded awnings etc. lifted off and he saw the cabin canvas and could see that it was in good condition and despite me asking him he was happy not to see it opened up. Pretty sure the detailed pics and description helped, and he could see that the reason stated for selling, now having a FC, was genuine as it was parked up alongside the TT.

Definitely. There were several Classic Trios being listed, and relisted, at the same time as ours with starting bids of £1000, or BIN of £1000, which simply weren't selling. Another one that had a more sensible starting bid of £700 had a poor description so no wonder people weren't bidding on it. Same with one that had a £1000 starting bid, had one photo I think and about five brief sentences in the description!

I don't know if it's the time of year, i.e. still a bit early in the year, but the higher value TTs don't seem to be shifting so quickly.

We are looking for a second hand fc and have been looking for a few weeks on preloved/gumtree/ebay/local ads. It seems like there are a lot of old models selling for £500-£800 or more expensive ones with all the accessories for £2k plus, but not much in between.

I am nervous bidding unseen on ebay but there is just nothing within a 50 mile drive so that might end up being our only option. We saw one at a dealers that we liked but it was so expensive compared to the private sales - and it only had a 1 month warranty.

Angedaws, you may have to widen your search area, trust me, there will be one out there with your name on it - you might just have to travel to get it.

ours was well worth the 6 hour round trip and having just used it for the first time we have totally and utterly fallen in love with it and the space it gives us
