We went to a local hardware shop. 4 yards of twin flex, torpedo switch, three pin plug, all for under a tenner with lamp holder and energy bulb. 2 quid for a paper globe shade. Mega pleased with the result. Switch hangs near the door so convenient and a better light than L.E.D..
I agree with Mo & Tel. I have made 3 like that and they are great. You can also get the cable to the right length, so no extension leads or trailing cables.
If you take a look at my gallery pics you can see one in action on one photo and two in the other

2017
April - New Forest(9)
May - Dorset (9)
August - Camping Le Pin Parasol, Vendee (18)
October - East Mersea (8)
and five nights in the one man tent!
Like Mo & Tel, we went for the mains light in our Pathfinder Porch Awning.
With a 3-box extension into the awning, to run the telly, the wee microwave oven and the light.
The lighting was a flush fitting ceiling light that hung from the hole where the central awning roof pole normally slotted into.
We personally find that LED Lighting is too harsh and mains bulb lighting gives out a softer ambiance.
We used to use an inexpensive solar powered shed light - solar panel sits out in the sun all day charging up the light, so you can use it at night, works well for us

I agree with Venturis4 and Johnny, got one LED light hanging from the main centre pole and the lighting is soft but bright enough for the corners. If you can stretch to it go for it. I have this one LED light and wouldn't be without it. I have a lot of elec gadgets in the awning so use extension cable from the external socket.
The one Heather 8000 suggests is basically the same as mine. I use the 12v cigarette lighter plug cable, having cut of that plug and put an inline switch and then added a two pin plug, which plugs in by the door into the socket by the power meter
I feed the cable through the hole where the pole connects for the awning and down the side of the wardrobe.
I also bough the extender pack that gives you a second tube that connects into the original.
