The title says it all really! We need a new family car that we can tow a Conway Challenger with. We currently tow with 1.2 Hyundai i10 so anything is going to be a step up! We basically want something that will be comfortable on long drives, reasonably economical and we can fit all our kit in without having to pack around the kids. We have 2 small boys that are rapidly growing and not a massive amount of kit but it would be nice to be able to take a few luxuries. It's not really going to be used for commuting, but more as the weekend, holiday and shopping car. We have around £3k for something reliable and will last a few years until we can afford something newer.
Try Ford Focus estate or Renault Scenic type cars. We have just bought a renault laguna sports tourer and we also have a conway challenger.
You need to work out if diesel is the route you want to take too.
Good luck
Mondeo estate or Passat estate would be perfect. Deisel even better. Loads of Mondeo's about so cheap. Also Vectra but no so many estates around.
My iew of Autotrader is opposite to GCMS2012. I find there cars reasonably priced but of course until you see what anyone is offering "in the tin" it's impossible to say.
All advertising bases are simply that. somewhere that hundreds of others hang their adverts. Its impossible to generalise (generally).

We have not got a zafira 1.7 as kids bigger and older, but still have the meriva.
Best regards,
Tony.
+1 for the Meriva, we've got a 1.4 petrol and it pulls the camplet fine. Normally loaded up with top box and ca full.
Very adaptable, quick and easy to put seats down etc, and not a monster to drive around town.
Some might say the road tax is a bit steep at £140 odd but hay ho, can't have everything.
Only £130 for diesel , just done it for the wife online, must admit if it was not for the meriva I would not have gone for the Zafira. It's a gem of a car and took us down to Dorset for the last four years with our tt without any fuss and returning no less than 45 mpg.
