Hi all,we are looking to buy a pathfinder or a crusader.We have 2 dogs and need to make the awning secure.My question is does the awning come with skirts to cover the gap by the beds or do we need to buy the bed skirts separately?Also how do you cover the gap underneath the main body?On a caravan you can fit a draught skirt is it the same on a camper?Thank you.

Assuming they still use the same 'system' as they did when we had our Sterling a fair few years ago, the skirts are a seperate item to the awning, but the awning has its own skirt on the door side of the camper - up to you if you use the full skirt or not. As for under thr body, the awning comes with a draught excluder panel, and works just like s caravans one.

Assuming you use all the pegging points, your dogs should be very secure

Yup, bed skirts are separate as is the long skirt that covers the gap between the body and the ground + wheel /arch.
What sort of dogs?
I'm sure some, if determined, could get out!

Hi glennyshock

We have a pathfinder and a black Labrador and she stays in the under beds.

We do put her on a lead at night pegged to the ground as most sites we have been to insist on dogs are on a lead at all times.

We don't put the draft lining on under the door (this come with the awning and have not had any issues all through our lab is probably a little taller than your cavies so things are not in her eye line anyway

The bed skirts are an extra and new are around £350 but I would of thought most will come withthem as they are great for storage etc

The bed skirts also make the beds seem warmer - probably due to cutting out the drafts from underneath

Thank you glamcamping,just hope whichever we get has got all the skirts with it.We had a yellow labby and she was as good as gold,the cavies are a little more adventurous hence the post.

We have a cavi, just the one. His bed comes inside into the doorway at night. I'm very tempted to let him sleep in the car where he is very comfortable. I'm too afraid that he might bark during the night and I don't hear him. Stupid really because after his early morning toilet call I throw him and his basked into the car where he settles down immediately. I get a cuppa and an extra hour in bed. A lot of people I know let their dogs overnight in the car Just a thought. We have bed skirts and the strip. I've found other dogs on occasion who've got in to raid his food bowl, hence we bring that and his water into the unit.

Yep, same on our 2001 Crusader. We also have both skirts which are definitely worth having even when using the awning as it keeps anything stored under the bed sections out of sight and out of any rain.

Our awning also had the draught excluder panel.

Thanks all,our 2 cavies are super in the caravan awning as it is totally enclosed.Just need to make sure the fc is the same.If we need to buy the extra skirts that, reflects on the price we pay for the fc.

The bed skirts aren't just expenditure, they're the cupboard you can close the door on! All the odds and sods are in there, under cover and you have a tidy awning. You'll find less draughts in the cabin too. Like most people we take the awning down on the penultimate evening if it's dry. Leave the bed skirts on and the awning furniture is clean and dry for next day pack up

Haven't thought of putting skirts on with awning but can see it makes sense. I'm confused over the zips on the door side. No doubt it will all become clear!

We have a 2009 Cruiser with Isabella awning. The awning does have the part that zips along in front of the void beneath the beds and a draft skirt takes care of the rest but we bought the bed skirts aswell, they are a must as others have said for safe storage and draft exclusion. Not cheap but well worth the investment.
