Arh, just had our new to us 1998 Pennine pathfinder serviced and wet rot was found around the battery box area, not all the way up the side way but not insignificant. We only paid £2000 for it so l don't want to pay a fortune to fix it. Ultimately I'd like to stop it spreading and replace the damp area with new wood. I'm sure many others have effected a similar repair in the past. Pennine quoted me £900 for a new wall but due to the age of the camper and the distance (i live in kent), its not really a viable option, any help greatly appreciated, thanks in advance and happy camping x
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
I had similar problem on small area of wall at back of my Fiesta near the door behind the cupboard. Did it myself.
1. Removed Cupboard
2. Borrowed a tool off my dad that kind of shaved out the old rotten wood. Take care not to pierce the aluminium outer skin
3. Cut new plywood to correct size and put in situ, used brackets to give strength and join to existing wall board.
4. used wood hardner around on the old wood in that area, just in case
5. Applied fablon wall paper
6. Put cupboard back in
Took about half a day, contortionism and a few swear words. Good luck.
Cheers Sammy mac, my damp patch has rotted right through, what was your dads tool ?, I've got a Dave coming to look at mine (hes a carpenter that says he likes a challenge). I've discovered that the seals around the battery box are to blame for the water getting in so will make sure its correctly fitted afterwards.
