We have recently purchased a Pennine Pathfinder 06 model. Will our Tecknika 19 inch flatscreen work on a 12 volt circuit, if it doesn't what will we need to buy for it to work, I have bought a outside aerial kit.
Hi most house hold tv's are not 12v and the Tecknika brand are such poor quality and badly made they would not stand up to being move about all the time i.e to and from site, in the car or camper and the damp in your camper when it rains .This is why the 12v tv's for camping cost so much more
------------- Beer is the answer...
but i can't remember the question !!!
You could only use the TV when connected to the site mains, so wild camping would have to be TV free...anyway there's more to do when camping than watching TV...

Well not to rain on your parade, but We have a19" Tecknika, bought from Tesco. Never had a problem with it and it's been all the UK. Okay not the best TV I the world but more than good enough for camping. The reason 12v televisions cost more is the fact they run on 12v and not as popular as mains, ie the smaller the quantity made the more they cost like anything.
12v TV's are produced to work from a battery with fluctuating voltage i.e. as you use power and the battery discharges.
If you make a cable and use a tv which is supposed to have a 240v adaptor, it will only work when when the battery is around 12v. If you turn a couple of lights on and it drops to perhaps 11.8v the tv with stop working.
I have seen this a few times over the years, unfortunately there's no way around spending the money and getting a 12v tv if that what you want to do.
