The cheaper end of the price scale hitchlocks are adequate but I'd then buy a strong padlock from a DIY or hardware shop. We bought a Carasafe hitchlock for £16 last year and in April this year had to snap the padlock which came with it off becuase it had seized up and the key just disintegrated in the lock. This worried us on two levels a) the padlock just isn't fit for purpose - seizing and warping becuase it had been outdoors, the environment it's supposed to be made for; and b) the ease with which I broke it! Strong padlock advised regardless of the hitchlock - that's what we're going to do from now one
