We are looking to move from our beloved canvas tent to a trailer tent, one BIG question my husband needs convincing of is how do you pitch in the rain & keep the beds dry?

Do all trailer tents have a facility to keep the beds dry whilst pitching in the rain?

My 2 favourites in the running so far are the Cabanon Stratos/Mercury or the Trigano Olympe...... If anyone can give us some advice on these or recommend any others I would be most grateful. Thanks in advance x

Just make sure your canvas is tied on then it will open out as you fold the poles out,pull it down before you open the beds and they will be under the canvas

You could try a Dandy. The roof covers everything until the side are erected. Ergo, no wet beds.

That is the main reason we changed from the crusader to the caravan...pitching in the rain meant wet inside. I don't know about trailer tents though.

We have had to pitch our neptune (the bigger version of the mercury/stratos) in the rain. Its all down to planning tbh.I have several tarps to hand whenever we go, to help with packing up or setting up.

Once the sleeping area has the cover on we just sit and decide if to set up the awning or wait it out.

Getting the cover over the sleeping area only takes about 5 minutes if you have done it before.As we work as a team its not a big drama,staying calm and working methodically is key.

We upgraded from a canvas frame tent to a tt and havent looked back,so many advantages over the tent.

Hi,

I am biased but go for the Olympe, we also owned a Chantilly and have pitched both units in the rain.

If pitched correctly you should never get rain on the beds in the Olympe, as for the chantilly it depends how you fold it away.

The best way? Sit in the pub until it stops raining. If everyone did nothing bar worry about rain then the British wouldn't ever go camping.
