Hi. I'm looking for some advice concerning bed types in trailer tents. I am I right in thinking the slatted bed bases where you sleep onboard the trailer body i.e Combi Camp are preferable to the bed bases which are a solid ply board and swing out from the trailer? Will the onboard sleeping arrangement to warmer and less prone to condensation? Are slatted bases more comfy?

We owned a Dandy for one season and often found there was condensation between the boards and mattresses. I put this down to cooler air on the outside of the beds but may be wrong. Any advice much appreciated, thanks.

Hi we have owned both types of unit, a Trigano chantilly with solid base and now have the Trigano Olympe with slatted base and foam beds.

By far the Olympe is the comfiest, never had any condensation issues with either.

It's worth the extra if this is for you, I would go for a unit with the slatted beds.

Best regards,

Tony.

Also makes a difference, if you have canvas to the ground under the bed.
IE: First TT we had was an inesca monaco, solid bed base as in base of the trailer, with canvas that come right down to the ground all round the whole trailer, mattress completely dry underneath.
Second TT, comanche montana, solid bed base, also base of trailer, but under side of trailer was open to the outside air, result terrible under mattress condensation when it got cold.
Solution, home made skirts all round the trailer, no more major condensation...
But saying that we would go for slated base if given the choice, mattress still gets slightly damp if it's sub zero outside. Our solution is lifting it up to air during the day with a home made frame.

Thanks very much for the info. This explains why we suffered condensation in the Dandy and not the FC with fitted skirts.

Hi Suzi, Can you tell me what material you used and where you got it from to make the bed skirts please.

Hi Mancha,
What & where not that much good to you as I live in Spain.

But any pvc type of material or even the premade pegging down stuff for caravans will do, just reinforce the areas you want to put grommets in for pegs. I used poppers to fix it to the trailer, but it just depends on where you want to fix it.
Kayospruce are a good supplier for most tent/ boat materials.

Hi Suzi, used to live in Senda de Valencia, just outside to town. Do you go to the bar El Parque?

It certainly is, we are not bar people but my friends go in there and I know a lot of the others that drink in there.
