Years ago we had tents then upgraded to anTT , only we haven't camped or owned anything for the last 4 years. At the end of September where in a position to buy a folding camper ,we've always longed after one but never been in a position to afford one. So my question to you all is where do we start? I don't know which are the better brands or anything? Thank you x

Your bound to get differing advise from a forum like this but it's all down to personal choice and what suits you.
We have a pennine pathfinder so am biased towards them but there isn't much difference between pennine or conway.
I would stick to a pennine or a conway there are cheaper options but you get what you pay for.
There are also with or without toilets,this makes a big difference in price and size of the unit.
I would also consider that pennine are still in business so spares are still available and I think most bits are interchangeable with conways.

What sort of budget have you got ?
The best place to get a feel for different campers set up is Burcroft camping in Northampton if you can get.

Good luck with your search and remember to check it over before buying.

We bought a vintage pennine pullman to do up as a project. Its a bit basic but does fine for 6 of us.

We are at the beginning of choosing which FC to buy. (From Sunncamp 400se.)
My first choice is the layout. We will be going for a side entrance with the built in bench seats and table. A nice kitchen set-up with maybe room for a small oven. I don't fancy an inside toilet which gives us a little more room or a smaller trailer. A good size awning for all our junk. We do seem to take everything. Also I don't fancy a large trailer. Some are massive and you need a big vehicle for towing. It could be a Pennine Stirling for me.
Folding Camper dimensions is a good place to start.

Thanks for all your replies, we have just had a weekend away with friends in there vintage Conway . We loved it and the best thing , I now know what is important for our camping needs.
Our budget is £2000, I like the Pennines when looking on ebay , I said I didn't want a toilet only this weekend I was constantly unzipping to get out the bed then unzipping the awning to go outside in the dark( toilet tent n porta potti out back) . I have mobility problems and use a toilet often so on reflection think a toilet is a must.
I have a limited front garden so how do I find the measurements? If it's a 600 ,is that the length when erected? Thanks lovelies 😊

If you want one with a toilet it's the pathfinder or crusader models.
For £2000 you will be looking at a year 2000 model or maybe abut older (they do seem to hold there value quite well)
They are 6 metres wide when set up.

This is ours
Ready for our next trip....



They are big old things even when packed away.
I can run the tape measure over it tomorrow if that helps.

There are also trigano randger with built in toilets but in my personal opinion I'd stick to conway or pennine.

The pennine pathfinders and conway crusaders are 6m long when erected, we tried ours for the first time at the weekend, I loved it. It's really funny as the beds seem miles apart. The toilet was very handy though after having 4 kids when I need to go there's no time for messing with zips, shoes and treks to toilet blocks and since selling the trailer tent no more bucket and trying to empty it unseen the next morning, we just join the rest of them for a trip to the elsan disposal lol.

Finally had chance to get online ,you've been great with your replies and we've decided pennine is the one for us just keep following prices at the moment.we won't be using to till next year so want to take advantage of the lower prices at the end of the season but worried our choice will be more limited if we leave it too late? Don't rule out a Conway Crusader, especially if you're hoping for a bargain.

We specifically looked for a Crusader as we wanted the slide out beds instead of the folding ones and I wanted the cooker on the left instead of the right.

Also on the years we were looking at (due to budget) the Pathfinder had a wider cupboard next to the door and we preferred the longer bench on the Crusader. This has ended up being a good decision as my son sleeps on the longer bench now and he wouldn't have fitted if it had been the short one with the wider cupboard.

we have had pennine Pullman we currently have a Conway crusader both are good fc .

the reason we went for the Conway was sliding beds also toilet hot water and oven which the Pullman did not have
