Hi everyone.i'm looking to buy a cabanon trailer tent and I have been informed that it needs some sort of log book and I will need insurance.is this true?Thanks in advance!!!

There are no log books with trailer tents and it's up to you if you insure it ? It's not compulsory or a legal requirement.

Not in the UK, or needed for short visits to the Continent (where the towcar's insurance should cover it for third-party risks) but a trailer (over 500kg) would need to be registered with its own number plate and insured separately if based in France (or other Continental countries).
Husband and I noticed whilst away for a few days that Dutch caravans had diffetent registrations from the tow vehicles. This thread has answered that question. You learn something new everyday!
We have insured our TT with the company advertised in between the posts.Only £66 for the year which i thought was very reasonable for the cover it provides.
If someone wipes out our TT they will provide accomodation, that alone has to be worth it.
