We have been looking at buying a TT but have never seen one before other than in pictures. I am looking at somewhere I can go and see a one set up. Does anyone have any advice where I can go. We are a family of 2 adults and 4 children. We did look at a caravan but hubby wasn't keen on towing and I don't want the added expense if storage. We looked at at air tent with ease of putting it up but I'm now wanting to consider a TT too. Sorry for rambling.
Burcroft Camping in Billing Aquadrome are about the best. They're very central, and have a huge range of trailer tents and folding campers set up to look at.
I've got our sunncamp 350se set up at Belford near Berwick but we're going home on Thursday morning. I'm taking pics before we take it down as I'm planing on selling it soon. TT is much better than normal tents but still is a tent, so setting up can be time consuming. Towing is very easy and obviously storage is not a problem. Ours can sleep up to 6 people. 2 double beds and 2 under bed pup tents we've only got 1 pup tent and use the other side for storage. TT are a good compromise for people wanting more than a tent but don't want to tow/store a caravan. I'll post some pics of the TT when I get home is there any particular things you'd like to see?

Hi, Camperlands in Manchester might be closer for you. It's definatly worth looking at a few and imagining that you are on a break in them, this way you get a feel for what it can be like.
For 2 adults and 4 children I would be looking at a Trigano Chantilly as they will accommodate your needs, they have 2 double beds and 2 good size under bed pods, with an option to expand .
If you decide it's for you and you have more to spend then the Olympe will sleep 8 in comfort but is alot quicker to put up and easier.
It's down to how much you want to spend and what your sleeping requirement s are.
My wife was not initially keen, but 9 years later we have a new Olympe after 7 years of owning a chantilly. We are a family of 2 adults , 2 children one a teen one nearly and 2 dogs.
You also have to remember to keep the younger children occupied whilst you put the unit up or down, but as others have said go have a look and see if it's for you.
Towing is definatly easier and you can store alot in your unit.
Try looking at Pennine Group on line they will show folding campers and ashort video how to set them up.
I find folding campers are better than trailer tents much quicker to put up I have a pennine sterling it takes me 20 minutes to put up a little longer with the awning.
When you know what you want look on this site or ebay to see whats for sale you may even get some for sale near where you live.
Barry.
Hi
We bought a 2000 Pennine Sterling in April.
We are off again for the bank hols shortly which will be our 5th time this year in it!
I also agree with Barry's timescale, very quick and easy to put up. We have 4 boys and took out time to research and we bought ourselves a bedroom annexe to go on the awning allowing another double sleeping area.
I have never towed before this in my life and was very nervous. We have a galaxy and it was effortless. You catch on very quickly about turning corners, watching your speed on m-ways etc. We have done both elec hookup and without at a festival (toilets, urgh)
If you need anything made that you cant find on ebay (we gave up after losing out too many times) Tent Valeting Services are VERY good. They made our annexe and Graham had the time and patience to answer my many questions.
I stated recently that my FC is probably my favourite purchase ever.
Best of luck with your choices and future holidays!
Hi,
we bought a second hand cabanon galaxy off ebay last autumn to give tt a try - same thinking as you really. We have just come back from our summer holiday and will be keeping it! Plus points - spacious accommodation, comfortable beds off the ground, really easy to tow, and not much drain on the fuel (10 - 15% maybe?). Dry as a bone in the worst of weather and with electric enough modcons to keep us comfortable in adverse weather (heater, dvd player, lights). The only downsides are that it is quite heavy work putting it up - we reckon 2 hrs from arriving to having everything in place ready to sit down and make a cuppa and you need 2 people - its worth taking the time to have it all set up well (ignore all those people who say they do it in 30mins!!!!). Also you still have to dry off at home if you take it down wet. But compared to the camping I did as a child this is 5* luxury!!!
We bought a Trigano Cheverny trailer tent at the beginning of the year and have used it several times since.
We used to have a tent but have found the trailer tent suits us better as a family - four kids meant we needed extra space! We were just going to buy a trailer for our camping gear but thought for just a little more money we could get a trailer tent, best decision we made!
Having said that we are now going to sell it and upgrade again to a folding camper. The trailer tent has confirmed to us that it's something that will work for us before we spent more money on a folding camper.
