Recently bought a 1997 Conway Countryman which arrived with a Campingaz 907 bottle. Fridge works perfect when connected to Ehu and I can light the pilot light and run fridge on gas. However the vents at back of camper get quite warm when rfridce is run off gas - is this normal?. Also been told that campingaz is expensive compared to other gas options. What other gas options do I have. Fridge is an Electolux - do not know model number as label in fridge has been worn away. Gas will also be used for hob/grill. Sorry if this seems elementary but this is our first camper and are new to this. Just had a week in Newquay and camper was brill - no more deflated air beds and hard ground for me!!!

Thanks for any help / advice

Hi Harpo. Yes, it's quite normal for the vent to warm up when running off gas. Certainly warmer than on ehu.
Calor gas is cheaper than campinggaz as long as you have the right hose connector.

As an illustration, a Camping Gaz 907 has 2.75kg of gas in it and sell at Go Outdoors at £27.  The Calor Gas bottles have 4.5kg if gas in them and sell for £15.08. You would need to change your hose from the regulator - get a stainless steel one for between £10 and £20.  Hang onto your Gaz bottle though, just in case you venture to France and run out of Calor because you can only get Gaz there. You can buy an adaptor that screws into a Gaz bottle and has a Calor connector on the other end. Job done!

Also if you have the winter vent covers fitted remove them when the fridge is in use as these can cause overheating if left in place.
