Hello, well we have collected our very first trailer tent today - we can store it in my Grandad's shed and he has just had a brand new roof put on it - will this be fine for storing it for winter or will we have to take parts out and store elsewhere? cheers for any advice x

not hot on trailer tents but if it were me i would firstly make sure it was dry when folded up,Have a small electric heater on a timer to come on a few hours a day to keep damp out of the air.Must be electric as gas or parraffin produces water.Just a small wattage one like some shops have in windows to prevent condensation.Like a long thick bar.Remove cusions and fabric were possible and store at home.

We have a carport type arrangement at the bottom of the garden, so ours is undercover but not inside. We take out the bedding, but don't have space to store anything else in the house so everything else has to stay in. I'm careful about drying it out for storage, but that's the same every time we put it away, and so far we've had no problems.

I've just done ours, and took the bedrooms out as well. Going to open it out once or twice over winter for an airing.

i have ours outside under a heavy duty tarp raised off the ground on axle stands with an almax chain securing it to the driveway.
The canvases and pods are in drawstring nylon bags raised up off the ground in the garage.

Our garage is dry and fairly warm, not damp at all otherwise i would bring the canvases inside the house if i was concerned about damp.

Obviously 100% dry canvas before it gets put away...there's no such thing as "Oh it's dry enough" with canvas, it has to be DRY.

Dry storage in a garage is good but the big remaining danger is mice. Obviously you'll clean it well to remove any traces of food and crumbs that might attract it but mice do love cosy dry canvas and they can do a terrific amount of damage over one winter. Best thing to do is to remove all the cushions, mattresses, inners and outer canvas and store them somewhere indoors like a spare room or dry attic.

Of course that's not always possible so at the very least put humane traps around the garage and make sure you open the unit up every moth or two to check it's okay.

I store our Pullman in the garage and put down mouse traps with a rolo as bait a) because they like chocolate and b) because the inner is sticky they find it hard to pull off the trap and therefore it springs the trap.

Thanks for all the replies - we had it out just this past weekend and have removed all the curtains and liners etc - it came with an excellent cover and we have put it away dry but I am concerned about mice as my Gdad did have mice in his bungalow earlier in the year so will prob defo have them in the garage!! I am going to buy an extra cover if I can get one that's been advertised coming up in our local Lidls - but was going to also place traps down but how many? One for each corner? Not sure if we could open the canvas up much as there is limited space but we will do our best - just to check it out. The annoying thing is we have loads of waste land at the back of our row of houses - the council is looking at clearing it and doing something with the land - garages big enough for trailer storage springs to mind!!! lol. Thanks again x
