There are some who say it's a myth that you have to reproof every year, once you start, but most people do seem to advise it.
The other common piece of advice on here is that, if the canvas has been dry for a while, the threads shrink, and it becomes less waterproof. Once it has got wet again, the fibres expand back, and it regains its waterproofing qualities.
If there was just a general dampness on the interior of the canvas, then it's quite possible this is why. Before you go about spending money on Fenwicks, Fabsil or similar, and before you risk having to re do it every year, I would test it first with a hose pipe. General advice is to wet it, dry it and wet it again to see if it leaks. If not, then, as JOSEY60 says; if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
