Having had a Fiesta for 12 years, while we were bringing up the kids, we sold up when we were on our own and started tenting again. For a while I loved this; the freedom of not towing in particular. But ...... I noticed we were buying a new tent each year, looking for the right one. Plus, we weren't getting out that much. Then this spring we felt the time had come, when it felt like the ground and the pegs were getting lower.
We decided to get a 'van, looking at an Eriba. However, not much on the market, so we had a good explore. Small vans felt cramped (motor homes even more so). We ended up with the Venus, a lightweight nearly new jobby.
Upsides: it's got more than we need in terms of kit. We eat in much more, because the cooking stuff is there. It' s got a loo for the early hours (prostate's not what it was) so an evening libation is more possible. But mostly, no worries about putting away wet. I'll repeat that. Camping in the wet isn't a problem.
Downsides: we're towing again. But with a stabiliser, it's not much harder than the TT. There's more to go wrong, and to worry about. But on balance, it's been a great move.
