I have been looking at getting a new trailer tent. I was looking at getting a camp-let until i discovered combicamp and holtkamper as they appear to be the superior choice. now i'm unsure which one to get. they are alot of money so i'm lookinf to hear from peoples experience. there's me, my husband and our daughter but we often have my brother in law and his three kids come along so we need one or my sister and her dog so we need one that would be big enough for us all. we live in the UK we plan on travelling to Europe over the summer and using the tent up until the end of October so were happy to invest in a tent that can weather all kinds of weather.
Very favourable €/£ exchange at moment so might be worth investigating buying either in Holland or nth Belgium as they are popular there. Dealers in Holland & nth Belg. will speak English ok.
I have found a combi camp 2005 for sale in the UK. It doesn't have an awning with it. it does come with the kitchen. they are asking 900 pounds. is that a fair price?
I'm not sure of the model, id be looking to try to find second hand parts or maybe buying a new awning, back awning and guest cabin. is this possible with this tent. I think it would be un likely to find the awning and room add ons second hand.
They don't change much so I think you'd be able to get the parts new. £900 seems a lot to me without an awning. If you do go and have a look at it make sure the hinges are ok and the kitchen isn't starting to hang off.
Alternative suggestion - Trigano Galleon. Bought ours new last year with the awning, sun canopy and side bedroom extension, with a double bed in the side awning it can sleep 6, if you added in the under-bed pods then it would sleep 8. For lower numbers you could just have the trailer with the sun-canopy and/or the awning. The main awning is a bit awkward to put up but does give you a living space larger than a lot of others.
The Holtkampers are beautiful units, but I do think a Combi Camp would suit you very well. Being able to add the extra side and rear annexes does make the unit very flexible, which is why we have one. Email Combi Camp UK regarding the extras, they're the only dealer in the UK. I doubt you'll be able to source the bits second hand.
Another budget conscious choice we looked at was the Raclet Moovea, and they've since brought out the Panama(?), which might also work for you. They both allow for the addition of extra bedroom annexes if you pitch an additional awning. Have a look at Black Country Caravans for info on both Raclet and Holtkamper.
We love our Combi Camp, the flexibility it offers with two teens is excellent, and it's very quick and easy to pitch.
