I am new to the world of trailer tents and have just purchased our first Combi Camp (late 1980's (i think) brown & cream) for family adventures next year and beyond and its being delivered in the next week or so from the lovely chap ive purchased from.
A massive and important question though >
* What are the best types of security methods (which would fit)?
We use a motion sensored lamp! Actually two, one at front and the other at the rear. They are battery operated and can be bought from Coopers of Stortford and under £20.00 each. You can make a bracket to fix them to your unit and they just give you that extra security feeling. Mind you the best security item we've got is our dog. I know it's only a small border terrier but she will tell you there's a stranger about day or night!
I do think you are very sensible in thinking about security. Too many people are lacking in their sense of security and we can tell you of many places abroad that have been victims of thieves. Ourselves included. So do take added precautions.
Motion sensored lamp will be on my list now, I was mainly thinking about a hitchlock, but a little unsure on what to buy, do you have one? Was looking at the Milenco brand. Security was my first thought and the reason we didnt bring it home on Sunday.
I have a security guard too in the shape of a Collie-Cross :)
Yes milenco are good and we also have a wheel clamp - anything that would make Thierry Tealeaf think twice has got to be a good investment. Happy hols! A final thought - leave your valuables at home. If you ain't got anything worth stealing you won't be victims. Just enjoy 2015!
Our TT is jacked up and sitting on axle stands. It also has an almax chain around the axle securing it to a ground anchor. And to add an extra layer its parked up right in the corner of a our drive and requires a lot of moving to get out.
Sitting it on the axle stands relieves the pressure on the rubber suspension and also the tyres. Not needed but also makes its that bit harder to steal.
Im also going down the cctv route just to make sure.
Its not worth loads but the inconvenience of having it stolen isnt worth thinking about.
I Was going to say the Milenco compact wheel clamp, but don't know if it will fit your wheel, if it's the same as the 1980s combi camp that we once had think it had 8 inch wheels.
this is the wheel clamp i was thinking of, we use it on our Van and it's brill, really easy to fit.
