So we went to drain down our 5 year old Conway Crusader before the winter sets in. The battery was flat so we couldn't operate any of the pumps or taps. Added to that the field it is stored in is very wet and muddy and there is absolutely no way we can tow the trailer off to a local campsite to do the draining down. So we are stuck. Can anyone give us some advice about what bits we need to insulate to try and protect pipes etc from the winter freeze.
Thanks
Interested in this myself, just getting my Crusader ready for winter and unsure how to drain the water system, hopefully your info will help me as well. Can't see having battery power would help with the draining as would have thought would be a drain valve somewhere but can't find one.
Would be great if you could drain the water without having to erect the unit as well!!!
Take the battery home and charge it and then go back and drain it using the battery power. When we had our folding camper we just put a cover over it and that was all
There should be a toggle type thingy next to the water heater/tank simply flick it and let the water drain away, don't think having the battery connected would get any more out the system.
Also make sure your toilet flush system is empty as well.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
Thanks all. Just thought we could/should turn the taps on to drain all the water out, and flush the toilet to get rid of all the water....will go back and try to find the toggle thingy. Would that be inside next to the tank or outside somewhere?
Actually, think that's what we do in the caravan...in the crusader there are some little plastic caps on the pipes going into and out if it that you have to turn to drain down the water heater...
in the pullman ,there is white topped "tap', alongside the water heater you just use as the vent to open the tank outlet, gravity does the res and leave it open until its time to get the kit out again
------------- That's not a dog....... That's a Schnauzer
To Drain of a crusader his simpal lift up the seat by the sink and you will see the hot water tank. thear are two small tubes going to the tank each has a valve fitted to them, you need to un skrew them and the water will drain away under the van, i do this when leaving a site so that you do not need to unfold the camper when you get home.
Just remember to srew them back in before turning on the hot warter back on then you will not burn out the boiler.
