Hi. New to FCs, and new to this site! I wonder if anyone could pass on some advice? I've just bought an old Penine Pullman, but it doesn't come with curtains or awning. Any tips on where to pick these up cheaply? Trying to keep costs down, so second hand would be fine, or wonder about home made curtains. Also getting the impression that Penine themselves are quite expensive new? Any alternatives? Any good websites beyond ebay? Anything to avoid!? Any help much appreciated.

Rather than try and find curtains (and possibly wait ages to find what you want) it would probably be easier to make your own. After all they are only rectangular pieces of fabric hemmed on three sides with a slot at the top for the pole. You could also have what ever colour and design you wanted and also coordinate scatter cushions etc

Hi, and welcome.
With regard to curtains ... we found the three sets of curtain poles that hang in the loops attached to the ceiling lining, a complete pain in the b*t. They tend to drag the ceiling lining out of shape.
I replaced them with ordinary curtain wire with hooks at either end, drilled holes in the extending uprights at the required height, and hung them on those ... so the weight (minimal) is taken by the poles and the ceiling lining sits perfectly straight.
In other words, using the same methodology as is used for the bedpod window curtains and the curtains that divide the bedpods from the central space.
If what I described is unclear ... I have some pics to illustrate.
We bought a new set of awning poles from Pennine, last year ... not cheap, but way better than the old metal type, and much easier to erect ... a very worthwhile investment IMHO.
You will find more useful information here

Hello!

www.towsure.com used to sell curtains (they may have been classified as awning curtains?) quite cheaply so worth a look.

Thank you All for an amazing response! Much appreciated. I think I'll take on board the suggestions of Pnefan and Kelper and try the DIY route (had no luck with towsure Nicola).

As for the awning, well, if I have to wait (as per Blueskypennine) then so be it. I can't help but think that someone like Sunncamp might have something appropriate though - does anyone have experience of their goods, or something similar?
