Hi,
We haven't used our trailer tent properly yet but we have set it up a few times.
My point is. We put the groundsheet down in the awning and then the carpet on top of that.... Is that what you do because it is really really slippery! Is there anything to put between the groundsheet and the carpet to stop it or do we just use one or the other?

We just put the carpet on top of the ground sheets with no issues.
You could try some stick on velcro, should stop it going walkies!

2017
April - New Forest(9)
May - Dorset (9)
August - Camping Le Pin Parasol, Vendee (18)
October - East Mersea (8)
and five nights in the one man tent!
we used the breathable ground sheet but we found that if the grass/ground was damp at all then when the kids sat or knelt on it they ended up getting wet......
fine for walking on though
up, and if it rains heavily, and the water table is high ... you might get puddles.
That's happened to us three times in 300 days camping on the continent.
Looking at Kelpers link that does look like what we have... I'm sure I read it was a carpet on the bag. I've looked up carpets and I don't think that's what we've got.
So the groundsheet and the breathable matting are not to be used together!?

We had what was termed a 'tent carpet' when we had our Camplet with nothing underneath it. It was infact a breathable groundsheet and although comfy underfoot we didn't get on with it at all well with the children as it was always damp underfoot or knee and they couldn't be inside without shoes / crocs on. It never pooled with water just soaked it up! As we now have a ZIG we plan on getting a proper fleece tent carpet - they are more like picnic rugs. Vango do some universal sizes.
There's no point in using a ground sheet and a breathable ground cover together ... the ground sheet wipes out the 'raison d'etre' of the BGC ... so, one or the other.
If you have a standard SIG, then you could put some ordinary carpeting on top for 'comfort' ... but if you did that to a BGC, you'd end up with damp/smelling carpet.
We already had a plastic backed tent carpet so used that in the awning last year. The pitch was very worn with very little grass and when we came to pack up the carpet was covered in mud. It was difficult to get it dry and clean and it obviously wasnt doing the ground any favours either.
We got some free breathable matting with our new awning so are giving that a go this weekend.
