Hi everyone

So who else was away this weekend and how did it go? We braved a wet Good Friday for our first trip of the year. The rest of the weekend was amazing, warm sunshine and on our well sheltered site we actually managed to eat outside. OH and sons got some good fishing in, I chilled out with my book and everyone was happy.

We took our little oil radiator and left it on low overnight. Never done this before but it definitely took the chill off and we didnt have any condensation on the windows in the morning.

Oh and before we went I took the small pole bag out of the camper to sort it out, we have lots of poles from the awning and some window poles that we never use. Half way to the site I realised the bag was still in our utility room so no curtain poles!! Luckily we had some string in the camper which did the job.

All in all a great start to the season.

Sounds fab Angedaws, it's definately been a lovely few days for you. Did you go far? Wish I'd been able to go away but we did manage to get our FC ready (putting back in all soft furnishings, sterilising water pipes etc) for actually going away another time hopefully soon.
What power output is your radiator? Have been checking these out but can't decide on Kw level to buy.

Ta, we only went an hour and a half away from home but its a great site and we have been before so we knew it was going to be good.

We have a little 500w Delonghi Bambino radiator which we use in our study at home. I have to say that we also have a 2000w fan heater that stays in the camper. The oil radiator is good for overnight but not really powerful enough for that blast of heat that you sometimes need at this time of year.

Obviously when the fan heater is on you have to be careful about using anything else on electric but we dont usually have it on for long anyway.

Oh and we have used the fan heater in summer so its handy to keep in the camper. Small, lightweight and cheap to buy too.

Thanks Angedaws, when we bought the FC the previous owners left in a fan heater so we did use that last year as we only had a chance to camp twice in Sept before putting it away for winter. Was thinking of the oil radiator for the same reason you used it, just to put on overnight to keep off the chill as you'd described it. A number of posts have mentioned this as a good idea for earlier/later in the season.

Wanted something smallish so wondered if 750W would be ok for that, so that sounds like it is as you had a 500W.

Your ok up to a 2kw for a heater before you blow anything. But also depends on site amp as well.
