I have taken the upright cabin poles off of my Pullman to rub them down and paint them,Inside each pole there was a short length of pole can anybody tell me what they are for ??

Not 100% sure, but, are they to stop at the 'folded down' position ... i.e. to protect/stop any jammimg at the corners when you fold up/down?
