Well after much searching for a new TT that will fit in our small garage I think we realise there just isn't one!
So we are now thinking about storing whatever we buy outside. I am worried about damp etc so was wondering about the older hard tops. There are a few for sale on ebay of varying prices and one with a new canvas we could consider. However are they any better and given how old they all are is it too much of a risk? Thanks for advice, Marie.

what size is your garage? I thought they are normally a standard size?

That said, some of the lighter TTs (not FC) have side storage brackets, so you can store them sideways in a garage, and save a little more room again if you take off the wheels - like this?

There is also Acrylic fabric based TT's, or winter covers you can get for many models which can help with outside storage.

Thanks for your reply. The garage is only 335cm long as we pinched a bit off the back when extending so I suppose it officially isn't a garage anymore! We thought about side storage brackets which are an option but the our favourite TT is the Olympe which the camperlands man said is too heavy really to be turned. The trigano galleon I think would just fit but with 3 kids I don't think would work well for us.

I had a Conway Cardinal folding camper which was stored outside with no problems.

If you are looking for a trailer tent, I have also had the Comanche Montana and a Conway Gazelle (similar to the Combi camp). Both stored outside with no issues.

Mine were all quite old but in good condition. As long as they have been well cared for you shouldn't have a problem.

We store our pennine sterling outside, no damp or problems. You just have to make sure you empty it out at the end of the season of all soft furnishings so air can circulate. We also use moisture catchers in ours and a winter cover over the top. My parents used to have a Coleman which was a hard top folding camper. Although good, they are a lot older and I believe can have problems with the mechanism that winds up the roof over time.

Plenty of people store outside. I regularly pass a pennine FC when walking the dogs and always think it looks a bit sad, well that was until a couple of weeks back when it was up and being aired!

All the best,
