Hi
We have a Conway Crusader which when we opened it up this year has a couple of bent poles; the ones that run lengthways down the camper. Not sure how this has happened, any ideas anyone? Also we live on the Nottinghamshire/Lincolnshire border so does anyone know of anywhere that would repair/replace these poles. Our unit is the 2004 model. Also does anyone have a link/know where I can get an operating manual for this unit from?

Have you tried the Conway owners club? Our Crusader has a similar problem but useable. I have spoken to TVS in Bolton who have said they can repair when needed, they also do a collection service.

Thanks for the heads up. Looks like we need to get ours in for a service before we start camping with the kids soon too. We managed to get the unit up with bent poles and they still work. Ours looks like some of the soft furnishings has suffered mouse damage during the winter months

Hi Michael, we had a crusader before going over to the Dark Side, I suspect the poles weren't pushed fully in until the pins were engaged in the inner holes before sliding the beds in, they creep out again and click into the wrong holes thus making the poles too long, they therefore have to bend to get the beds to slide fully home.

It depends where the poles are bent at. I know that on some earlier Crusaders, you can press the little stud buttons on the middle bar and slide it out completely. A plumber with a hand pipe bender and 7/8 die, could reverse the bend if it's not too bad. I noticed I had a slight bend in one of my bars too and straightened it again with a crossbow bender. You wouldn't even know it had been bent. If however one of the bars is kinked, you will need to find a straight piece of solid metal bar with a rounded end, that will just fit into the bent bar. Then hammer it down into the bar to straightened it. You must rotate the bar slowly as you move through the link, so that the bar does not become lodged in the one you are trying to straighten. Vice grips may be required. I would suggest using a little lubricant always, but you must be careful that this does not come into contact with the canvas or fabrics.
