Hello there, I was looking for a specific place for new people to introduce themselves but could not see one so here we are.
We brought a Conway Cruiser two weeks ago after a discussion where I (Husband) wanted a new tent and wife wanted a caravan. So we looked at lots and lots of caravans and the problems with storage..., and then discovered folding campers. Fell in love with them, did our research and eventually got one. Wife went and collected it with my dad after a tow bar delivery issue (guaranteed 2 days delivery... two weeks later)and we put it up and its amazing.

So we have already a cooker, fridge and the usual basics, we have purchased a winter cover as we probably wont garage it unless it becomes really bad. An adaptor so we can run the electricity from home, some spare elastics and clips and a tv aerial.
I know the purists will say TV!!! but we have a 4 year old and an 8 month old and although not TV obsessed it might be nice to stick on the odd DVD when the weather tips it down. Haven't got a TV yet as the one we brought from a lovely guy around the corner from us stopped working. He refunded the money so all was OK.
Going to get a new tyre as the spare is cracked. We have camped for years so have most camping stuff but wonder if there are any essentials/equipment tips anyone suggest we might need?
We don't have a leisure battery fitted (we think, not 100% sure) is it worth getting one and linking it in?

Going to do a few test runs locally, as in around the corner before heading to New Forest which we love. Any other advice welcomed, we may ask the odd question but so far have been finding out any information from other peoples posts.

Welcome to UKCS and congratulations on your new purchase!

We are now caravanners - dictated by age and health issues - but we had folding campers in the past and loved them.

Your water pump will be run off 12v and possibly the lights so might need a leisure battery. Check whether you have a step with the unit as we forgot this with our first one!

You are wise to go local first trip in case there is anything you forget. At least you will know where the local camping shop is!

Best items to take with you on your first few, and almost every other trip, is a notebook and pen - then you can list all the things you forgot, never thought about until you wanted it, something you 'spied' another camper using, etc

On a more practical note, whatever you do, don't forget the corkscrew/bottle opener!

Check age of your tyres. Make sure you have a torch. Take some foam pipe lagging..put over frame incase you get drafts. Door mat to help inside getting muddy. The rest you'll work out when you realise you don't have it lol. Happy camping 😉

If you want good t.v. coverage I don't think you can beat the Maplins package. Nice 'suitcase' that holds the lot.Good sat coverage as far down as Macon in France! All bought for under £100.00. It's worth a look and apart from that all the very best and good holidays!
