Hi all
Am looking at replacing 3 tyres on a 2007 Conway cruiser. Existing ones are 155/80R13 79T , but I have been told these are car tyres? Weight of camper fully laden I believe is 900kg.
Is it okay to replace these of the same type?....and if so, where should I purchase some more please?
Regards....
The 79 in 79T indicates they are rated at 437kg each so just a smidge under rated unless you deduct the nose weight. You need a number 80 or higher preferably 81 or more.
I've just looked at my 95 Cruiser. It has the same tyres as yours. I would assume from those sizes that they are car tyres. Not sure about the pressure though.
The tyes are ok, the standard fitting for that camper. The speed rating T is 120mph & load rating is at that speed & you will be doing half that. You probably won't be fully laden anyway so the standard car tyres are ok.
You are unlikely to find that size in a higher load rating nowadays anyway so your only option really is to go for the car tyres. Pay a bit extra for premium or mid range brand rather than budget if you like & you will be ok.
tyre-shopper.co.uk has Michelins & Contis in that size for under £50 each. I find them the cheapest, order online & tyres are delivered to you nearest National Tyres depot for fitting/balanced included in price.
