Hi there,
We've just bought a 2000 Pennine Pathfinder 600 TC. Gulp! The owner bought this almost brand new but only used a couple of times - been in storage ever since. It looks perfect! We're having it serviced next Friday and just wondered if there are any tips you have that we should ask the chap to look at that may not be included in a normal or should we just let him get on with it? He is the expert after all and we're just the numpties!
Also, we're looking at options for heating it. Looks like it's all geared up for a Trumatic E2400 LPG heater but previous owner never bothered installing. Is this worth investing in? Trying to cash in on all your knowledge and experience hoping the guy will actually think we know what we're talking about! LOL Thanks for reading
We had a 2000 Pathfinder which was great and a big step up from our old tent. When we had it serviced first time I watched and asked questions but ultimately left him to do his job.
With regard heating, ours didn't have any so we used a 2kw heater we bought on sale at Asda. It has a half power setting which helps keep the load down. We still using it in our awning. It was all we ever needed and although not plumbed in it cost £7!
We've moved on to a caravan now but at the time it was annually. Usually in spring at the start of the season. Given that it is essentially a caravan from the middle down we paid a single axle caravan rate. The service covers all the same items as a caravan.
Hi chizzi, and welcome to the world of folding campers, any questions just fire away plenty of help here that no doubt everyone has experienced at sometime.
On the heating side I would just go for the £7 heater.
------------- Up there for thinking, down there for dancing. 😎
get him to hceck all the micro switches int he taps are working (although you will know that if all the taps are working).
check gas over including replacing any pipes (any orange gas pipes should be changed every year/two years as they can crack)
all electrical wiring
tyres

Thanks MrT007, I'm gonna try & persuade other half to try the camper out with a little heater as you have suggested. Until we have used it we're not going to know what it's like and as we never had a problem camping in a tent, the FC must be warmer surely. BTW whereabouts in Kent are you....moved up here from Northfleet!
Thanks familybetts, great advice, OH making notes as I write...
also can you tell me what's the largest amp size leisure battery will fit...we have a motor mover.
Didn't realise how involved this camping lark is!
