Hi,
Can any one recommend a heater to be used in a the awning section of a folding camper for when we are not on hook up?
What do you do? Any recommendations
Thank you
Hello, we don't heat the awning at all, I know that's not much help! We tend to snuggle up in a blanket and if it's too chilly, retreat inside the camper and have a brew which warms the camper up as well as us.
I think these cartridge heaters are quite popular in the camping world but remember that with any type of portable gas heater there will be carbon monoxide fumes given off so adequate ventilation will be required.
What you should look at is a catalytic gas heater. These produce much less, dangerous carbon monoxide than other gas heaters but should be used with caution only in a well-ventilated space and NEVER in a sleeping area.
Not in an awning but we use a Heat Pal meths heater in our tent and have done so for years. Obviously not at night and with bottom vents and vents on the doors open.
Works a treat, we have never had EHU. We cook on it too, I made risotto on it a couple of days ago, while warming up the tent during a nasty storm at the same time.

Have a look at the Coleman Black Cat gas heater.
A properly maintained gas heater does not produce carbon monoxide, but we still went for a catalytic heater for winter camping. Ours is the superser mini, and is quite big in spite of it's name. I like it because is has no naked flame except the pilot and runs on a standard calor bottle. Our TT is so well ventilated, the awning may as well be a sun canopy, but it warms it a treat.

i thought ALL heaters - no matter what fuel - produce carbon monoxide?
