We have recently bought a 2nd hand Pennine Pullman and took it out for its first expedition this weekend, all going well until checking the forecast... Looks like we will be taking down wet, so we check how to do this before it starts raining only to find that although we have the under bed sheets we don't have any plastic sheeting under the benches.
Can anyone tell me approximately how big the sheets are or what they are supposed to cover? Hubby is doing an emergency dash to the shops for some polythene sheeting as the groundsheet we have brought with us is simply not big enough.
Would I need to take the inner roof down from the living area just as you do for the bedrooms, before placing the sheeting over?
Any other hints or tips? I can't find any pictures online of a wet take down to see what we need.
The plastic sheets cover the bed mattress's to protect them from the damp canvas when folding the unit down. I don't recall any sheet over the central bench area, but if you are worried you could always get a ground sheet.
hi yes you should have wet covers over the seating area.
when you put the backrests down flat over center
isle. so you want a sheet the width of the camper by the length of the seating.hope this makes sence .
I have all the plastic sheets however when I had a wet pack up I spread a small tarpaulin over all the kitchen and seating area before folding kept everything dry and then erected the camper when we got home to dry
Thanks everyone for your help. We got a large polythene sheet from Wickes for an emergency cover and spread it over as suggested. It was a bit cumbersome so will try and fit some of the sheeting under the benches so it's easier to pull up and over. Camper now popped up at home in the drive and all seems ok!
If it's dry, you don't have to take down bedroom pods ... just unzip the window panels and put the straps through them. If it's wet, of course, take them down so that the plastic sheeting can do its job.
We've never used plastic sheeting over the seats .... always have other stuff lying on top anyway .... e.g folding table and chairs.
Whatever system you use ... if you have packed up wet .... get it up and open again as soon as possible, and leave it up until it is 'bone' dry before packing down again.
Our old Pennine Pullman doesn't have any waterproof sheets, we take the mattresses off the wooden bases and put them on the camper, then spread a plastic sheet/tarpaulin over them and then fold the canvas down on top, the sheet keeps the wet canvas away from dry stuff underneath.
Never had any problems doing it this way......
