Hi All,
Due to personal employment circumstances my husband and I are spending some lovely short breaks in our FC this summer. However, we are finding the camping and caravan club sites eating away at our budget and wondered if anyone on here can recommend a slightly cheaper but nice site..
We have booked a camping and caravan club site in Barmouth next weekend but have the opportunity to spend 3 nights elsewhere before we hookup there. Does anyone recommend somewhere within a 30mile radius of Barmouth?. I suppose if I'm honest I would like to pay up to £15 per night with a hook-up?? Probably a farm site or something!

Thanks in advance! :)

Hi can't help you but do agree with you as to the costs of sites. We was quoted £185 for 5 nights in August, found another site just down the road at £100, big difference.

What C&CC site in Barmouth, do you mean this Llanaber Certificated Site?

Have you looked into Ynys Faig Farm on the opposite side of the Mawddach estuary? Used to be reasonable - use the email facility on the listing for current pricing.

As you are a member of C&CC have you searched for a CS

They can be cheaper. Or maybe look for a THS in that area.

There will indeed be a THS (with limited EHU) at Tywyn but not until the 17th (I think) of this month.

Time to think of France?
Lots of good Municipal sites for between 10 and 15 euros a day.
And wine is a lot cheaper ... as is diesel.
Granted you have to cross the channel ...
Might be worth thinking of for the future?

We're off up the west coast of scotland at the end of the week - due to weather issues been looking at alternative sites down south.........can't believe how much some sites are charging, and people must be paying, one wasnt far short of £300 for 6 nights for 2 adults and 2 kids, a lot were low 200's

Hi
Probably further than your 30 mile radius (only been to Wales once)but Cefn Cae campsite just outside Conwy is a fantastic C&c cs site - in fact it was voted the best new cs site 2014. Great location, very good facilities and cost £16 a night - farm site. We joined the C&c to specifically use the cs sites as we wanted to save money and still get a way-we weren't disappointed!

Use the CS sites far cheaper. We are staying in Cornwall on one in
August £12 a night with elec up to 6 on a pitch. Bargain.

Give Kelper's suggestion some thought.

Even factoring the ferry costs you will get:

cheaper and often better sites for your money,

good cheap wine (we are currently paying 1.55 euros a litre for a nice red wine),

diesel is around 72pence a litre,

you normally have no need to book a site

the weather is infinitely better
