Hello, after several months and far too many hours spent on the internet we have decided I think on a folding camper that will live on the drive. We've been to look at a Pennine Pullman today at a caravan dealers and will probably be putting a deposit down tomorrow morning. However there are a few issues as it is 7 years old. It looks like at some stage it has been put away wet as it has a new canvas-not clear how new. There is mould on the bed board and the plastic covering above it. The bedboard is still solid though so I don't know if that is an issue?
Also there is a metal cable that attaches the bedboard to a bracket underneath and one of these is snapped- I'm not sure what these are for.
The wardrobe runner according to the salesman needs replacing but I notice on the pennine website that these are available but I don't know how difficult to replace?
I think the carpet has been replaced at some stage as it isn't loose which I think Pullmans that age should be- 2008.
For some reason it has two awnings but only one set of poles. The salesman thought it was from when the original canvas was replaced. Both awnings are in great condition and one doesn't look used. I was wondering whether one could be adapted and used as a sun canopy but I don't know if this is possible.
Also there are no bed skirts and there is some rusting to the gas struts on the beds.
Should any of these issues put us off buying? We don't want to make an expensive mistake. It is a good price and as 7 years old I wouldn't expect to be perfect.
Being from a caravan dealer they will service it for us and it will come with a three month warranty.
THanks for any help.

And the price?

All of those seem like fairly minor issues if the price is right - especially new canvas and a spare awning that you could sell on....

However, if its above avergae price then perhaps the dealer should be fixing these things and not you...

The price quoted is £3999. On ebay I've seen a 2007 one for £4500 and a 2009 one for £5995 although neither have sold it seems a reasonable price to me. What do you think?

Is it the baby poo brown, sorry, coffee and cream colour?
These don't seem to hold their price as well as some, seems like a reasonable price for a dealer though.

Ours is 2006.
We had an attack of mold ... treated with Sudbury stain and mild remover.
The bed boards look spotted ... but I varnished them with yacht varnish and they look great.
We have some small rust spots on the gas struts ... doesn't affect the operation of them.
I may be selling soon .... and would expect around £3,500 with a pile of extras built in ... aqua rolls, alko stabiliser etc.
Our colour is the green version.
I think the one you've found seems reasonable for the price .... have the tyres been replaced ever?

Thanks for your reply. I don't know about the tyres. The dealer didn't really know much about it. It was a part exchange for a caravan. He wasn't even sure about the awnings but they got everything out for us.
The bed boards are just spotted rather than obvious spores. They could have been like that for years.

A scrubbing with Milton solution will sort out the mold on the bed boards no problem.

I think you'll find an Olympe is more closely matched to your needs!

Cheeky thing, this is my question about that lovely Pullman we saw together on Sunday djmpne! I think the Pullman would be much easier for overnight stops than the olympe and it's cosier.

Combination of things ...
We've loved the Pullman for nine years ...
Now we are down to two of us ... and a mountain of accumulated kit, much of which we have got used to wanting/needing: Boats, bikes, Cadac, folding wardrobes and larders, large eating table, lafuma recliners, table chairs, extra fridge, whirligig clothes drier, fly/bug curtain over main door, etc etc.
With two of us, kids now no longer holidaying with us, it takes around two hours to unpack the FC, put up the awning, peg out, distribute everything ... if it's not too hot ... if it's very hot ... it takes longer!
Reverse procedure for packing up ... as our holidays are soon to get longer (7 weeks at present), due to retirement of OH, we will be doing more moves.
Currently we try to stay for at least ten days in any one site ... though, in a perfect world, we may have wanted to depart earlier!
We watch caravaners arriving and being set up in fifteen minutes, and away in the same time ... and the ability to do one night stops, should they want to ... Not really an option for us.
I think our FC is perfect for a single location hol ... or possibly two locations .... but when you go beyond that, the fit up and strike times become 'boring' ... arduous, even!
We've resisted the idea for a long time ... but having seen a couple of new french caravans last week ... we are pretty well converted .... much as I swore that I'd never be a vanner!

Kelper yes I can agree with a lot of things you are saying, wondering ourselves whether to go down the van route been looking during the summer at vans and still undecided the points that sway it for us are extended season, setup/dismantle time and wet pack ups, I have a 94 year old father who is still independent but someone needs to be around for him so can only go away when siblings are about which limits us even though we are both retired now, like you been doing it for 8 years and still love it but it is getting harder/longer to setup/dismantle

ammdkids don't ever be put off by the colour I upgraded the canvas/ awning/ seating and mattresses on our 2005 Pullman 4years ago to brown because of the mould but other campers are still inquisitive and in awe of the space inside so the colour matters not so long as it is clean and mould free, oh and as an aside I still use the green bed skirts and wheel arch cover its not how it looks its if it is watertight and in good condition, in answer to the mould question I did enquire at burcroft camping about cleaning and he said it is a bit like yeast it is a living organism which once washed with Milton could reactivate and even start to rot the canvas, so I upgraded through pennine when they had an offer on

That's why I used Sudbury Mold and Stain Remover ... kills it ...
I've never really believed the Milton solution (in both senses of the word!).
