Hi All, been looking for answers regarding my battery in the fc, when its on mains everything works fine lights fridge etc but when I put battery on charge nothing happened and I found out it was the in-line 10a fuse from the charger but when replaced it started making fizzing noises. Now the lights etc. wont work unless I take the fuse out from the in-line holder, is this indicative of a shorted battery and needs replacing. The voltage indicator only shows volts when the fuse is out not in.
When we bought our 2000 sterling, it came with battery but we could never make anything work!
Have actually never needed it though, EHU or gas suits us.
When the camper is serviced before next season maybe we shall get the battery sorted, but so far we have coped without it.
Thanks, i figured it was a faulty battery as previous owners said they never charged it till they got to site, so i think its dead and gone but dont know why it only works with fuse
A shorted battery will take a high current, dragging down the voltage from the transformer, eventually blowing the fuse. In theory, transformers such as your charging unit, self regulate so shouldn't come to harm. Most charging units can be used without the battery connected,to provide 12v,but not all, check the paperwork.
