Hello folks,

I am looking to buy a TT. I've thought about it for a long time, and now the timing is right.
I am looking at cabanon stratos/manga type unit, they look superb. My question is, how much room is there in the trailer for all the extra gear and how do you guys cope with packing all the gear? I am looking for one with a large front box to solve some of the storage issues, also going to get a bike rack for the TT, which will free up the roof for the box.
Pictures would be superb when you're fully loaded just to give me an idea of how it is manageable?
Thanks in advance 😊

Before you start thinking about what you can load you should be finding out the maximum tow ball weight permitted on your car. Next would be the permissible carrying weight of you chosen TT.

Chairs ,cupboards and awning poles all go in the central well in ours, hook up,lights, fan heater, sun canopy poles, ext leads, pegs and spares in the side lockers. In the front box, light stuff, water and waste, loo, bin, spirit level, trolley, chocks and boards for trailer and kitchen legs. Under the main cover goes the awning, sun canopy, annex, ground sheet (in a waterproof bag) and a table. All the cooking and eating gear goes in the kitchen. This little lot comes nowhere near the max weight, the carrying capacity of trailer tents is generous compared to folding campers, the gross max of mine is twice the unladen. Both of your chosen models are only slightly heavier than mine if they have a kitchen, both are lighter without.

Cupboards mainly in ours. I lament the amount of space our step takes up. In the side cupboards I have kettle & toaster and all the linings etc. Front box I have the EHU, and I don't know what else, as it needs a bit of organisation this weekend! We're getting ready for our fortnight to Holland next week, but won't be ready until the night before we go, but i'll post pics if I can, and not doing last-minute packing!

(NB. Bike racks appear to be like rocking horse s***. New they are £270, second-hand at a dealer £150+. Lucky to get ours from a breaker for £100)

Try to organise it so that all camping things go in or on the trailer and things like clothes food etc all go in the car. That way all you have to do is pack the car to go away and vice versa when you get home. Saves having to open it up.

Hi,
I have a put a picture on my profile of our packed Galleon (note the image is the wrong way round - I can't rotate it?) I think the inside of the Galleon is roughly the same size as the Cabanon's. Basically as Navver says, it's best to concentrate on fitting in everything to do with the tent inside the tent and we manage to do this easily in ours. We have 2 awnings, all the poles, groundsheets and a couple of chairs in the centre as you see on the picture. In the 2 lockers either side, we fit in kitchen stuff that doesn't fit in the kitchen e.g. heater, kettle and toaster plus all of the bedding i.e. sleeping bags, pillows, blankets, mattress toppers and a duvet. We are 2 adults and 2 small children.
The front boxes are great and can be pretty large- however, watch your weight as you will have a nose weight limit which for us is 49kg so it's easy to overfill. It's a massive jigsaw puzzle and you just have to experiment!!

We have a Neptune which is the bigger brother of the stratos. Just packed it for our trip tomo.
I've found it easier to pack by putting chairs and other furniture inside and the canvas's go on top under the cover. I have put a groundsheet over the top of the beds before placing stuff on top.

This means we can set up in the wet without getting any of the contents inside under the beds wet.

Packing this way also allows us to get the nose weight ok as we have the huge box on the A frame too. We put mainly light stuff in the box like portaloo, pillows and bedding.

I checked the nose weight and it came in at 70kg and our cars max is 75.

Got some stuff to go in the kitchen unit so will lighten a little when that's added.

On this side, I have the underbed tents, and some of the wall panels from the porch

In the middle, I have poles, 3 x cupboards, a table, pegs and the EHU (Following the advice to put the step in the front box). Also, the clothes airer.

And on the right, I have a couple more panels, toaster, kettle, light and pump.

Unfortunately I stuffed up the booking with Wightlink Ferries, so we couldn't all take bikes, so only DD's on this one.

We have a Cabanon Jupiter and everything goes in the trailer bar our clothes and the fridge. There is an amazing amount of storage space as long as you pack carefully. The top box contains our Aquaroll, step and some chairs plus other odds and ends.
