The funnel sink in our Pathfinder that the main sink drains into has cracked. I think that this is quite a common issue. Before I buy a replacement, has anyone on here replaced this extra sink with a long waste hose that plugs directly into the main sink? If so, is this simple enough for a DIY idiot like me to do? Has anyone get step my step instructions?
Hi, yep mine cracked too ! The reason on mine was the sliding basket, it could be pushed in too deep, hitting the waste. Once I had replaced the waste "housing" ( which was easy) I glued some little stops on the runners which the basket slides on to stop the basket hitting the plastic waste. For the stops I used a wooden cloths peg ( don't tell the wife !) cut to the right size.
Hope this is of help.
Hi
Yes I replaced ours with an extra piece of pipe due to the thing overflowing every time you emptied the main sink.
Very easy I joined the pipe from the sink to the pipe from the overflow with a piece of copper pipe and 2 jubilee clips.
Just remove the overflow sink and join them together.
When moving the sink unit for traveling I just pulled the pipe away from the sink (only on a rubber stopper) and clipped it out of the way.
From memory I think I used 22 or 25 mm copper connector.
Just check for leaks when you first use it again.
Just to clarify - that's a length of copper pipe cut to fit and jubilee clipped to the main sink waste pipe. Then attached to the overflow waste pipe with a rubber bung?
Sorry about this, but I'm having trouble visualising it.
The piece of plastic pipe that is already on the main sink should have a rubber piece that holds it in place at the bottom of the waste outlet, you keep this as it is.... Remove the small drain sink (yours is cracked) and you should see a pipe at the bottom of this.
Remove the little sink and join the pipes together with 2 jubilee clips and a length of copper pipe (approx length 100mm).
Hope this helps
I would put a photo on but I have now sold our pathfinder
