Has anyone replaced a supportive rubber band which has perished and has been sown into the tent fabric with anything else?

If the fabric loop is still intact you can feed a new rubber band through it, then through itself to secure.

There's often a small D or O ring sewn in next to the original band fixing point, this is so you can loop a replacement band through the ring and then back on itself.

If there's no fabric loop, D ring or any other way of attaching a new band without sewing you could use a Clingon instead and loop a band or length of shock cord through that.

I replaced perished rubber bands with ball bungees on my old Saunders. Same technique as smartecosse posted.
