Hello everyone.

I have just bought a tt... My first 1 😊 its 30 years old, a Conway Camargue. Needless to say it needs a little tlc. I am doing it up slowly but the biggest problem is the fousty smell in the canvas (its so bad that even after I washed my clothes I could still smell it on them!) but I had spent a good couple hours with it over my head while I was working out how to fit it, lol. So maybe it won't be so bad next time??? Unfortunately I couldn't leave it up because of the weather but I wonder, do I just need to air it on a good day or should I actually clean it with a product n reproof it?? Is this a common problem and will I have to redo it every year after winter storage because if so I might just leave it till the spring 😊 thanks for any advice you can give me, happy camping

Are there any mold spots on the canvas? If not its probably because its not been unfolded for quite a while. If you have the space try and get it erected on a day when rain is due with the following days showing as dry. You will be able to check its water proof whilst giving it chance to dry and air out. If it is waterproof dont be tempted to reproof it as its not necessary. But I have to say that cotton canvas does have a distinctive smell which I love as our previous TT was a 1987 Conway with traditional canvas the smell of which brings back memories of great camping expeditions.
