Hi all, I've lurked round the edges of the site for ages & have finally got round to registering I've just bought myself a 1992 pullman & I'm trying to figure out the electrics.. A previous owner has taken the 12s plug off & changed it for an EHU plug, I've looked all over to see if I can find out if there's a charging system fitted as standard & where the battery is supposed to live! There's a 12v immersible pump fitted for the tap but I can't find a switch, is it one of those that start automatically when you swing the tap up? If Icould find a few photos or a wiring diagram it would help.. Sorry for the long winded post but I'd have pulled my hair out if it wasn't for the fact that I've a shaved head...

Ok. There is no standard answer, as the 1992 Pullmans had a 12V system as standard, but not 240V one. They were available as an optional extra, but most from that time are retro fit systems, installed by previous owners.

I have everything you will need on my web site, but I'm not allowed to link to it, so you might want to try Googling my name on here, followed by 'Pullman' and you will find what you need. There is an early - mid 90's Pennine manual there, which has a full electrical schematic on page 28.

Back then, there wasn't a dedicated battery compartment, with most living either in the front locker, or, more commonly, under one of the seats (usually on the kitchen side).

At that time, the Fiesta and Pullman models both had the submersible pumps, and both were operated by a small foot switch, covered with a light coloured rubber dome, on the floor. Hopefully, yours is still in situe.

Although the newer models have a built in charger / transformer, the earlier models, like yours, didn't. My 1998 Sterling had a standard car charger under the seat, along with a leisure battery, and domestic RCB unit, but, as I say, yours could have anything, as the vast majority were retro fit.

Don't worry about the post length. I work with these all the time, so I also have a shaved head.

The one good thing about being wrong is the joy it brings to others..

That's brilliant, thanks for that! I reckon I need to have a good look round with a torch & trace it all through, I can rig it up so I know where it all goes then! I suppose I could hard wire a charger in really, it could stay on whilst on EHU then, save me a fortune getting my towbar rewired for charging, 13 pin on an Audi & they want £500 to put the extra wires in
