We are in the process of having a motor mover fitted to our Gobur Carousel 10/2. Can anyone who has a mover fitted please advise me if the movers go in front of the wheels or behind the wheels. This is quite urgent as the fitter is standing by, so to speak

On our Pathfinder the mover had to go behind the wheels because of the chassis layout, but on our present van they are in front of the wheels.

It doesn't matter whether they are front or back, they all work the same way. Only the wiring into the control box changes and the instructions will keep you right.

Some chassis are slightly shallower aft of the wheel so the mover rides higher giving better road clearance; I can't remember if it was with our Gobur as it predated movers.
On all my other vans I opt for aft of the wheel as it is more protected there from being knocked into the tyre. It is more prone to water spray but that's not been a problem in 14 years to us. I doubt it makes much difference as spray will be everywhere near a wheel.
A complexity arises if the AL-KO spare wheel carrier is fitted but Powrtouch have a work around that. It also stops use of the aftermarket jacking hard points by Al-Ko and Kojack.

Our present van has a Powrtouch MM. It also has both an underslung wheel carrier and a Kojack system.

The only real problem we had with fitting all these under the van, was that I had to reroute the blown air heating system.

Please remember that motor movers are designed to be fitted to Caravans and not trailer tents.
A caravan chassis is much deeper than a trailer tent's and therefore extra Drop Plates tend to be needed when fitting a motor mover to a TT.

If I remember correctly, the Drop Plates on mine were an extra £75.

The Gobur is very much a caravan not a trailer tent re its chassis. Because its body contributes nothing to the stiffness it has in relative terms a deep chassis. As the door further reduces the local stiffness it features heavy "A" rails. All very adequately designed for.

Thanks for all the info supplied here. Great Forum for lost Bods like me.
We spoke to the fitter this morning and he has decided to fit them behind the wheels as there is more clearance there. So far he is happy with the fitting.
I was going to drive to Gobur Caravans to get it fitted but at this time of the year the roads may not be the best and it was needed relativly urgently as access to our drive is not the easiest. We will be taking the Carousel to them in a couple of months time to get a check up.
