As a new caravaner I have bought a set of Carafoot pads for the legs of our new toy. Problem is there are no intructions as to the fitting procedure. One suggestion on web pages was to hit the plastic pin into place with a hammer.
Can anybody advise me as the correct method, even if the hammer is the correct method.
Or should I buy ones with metal pins?
Dunno what make mine are but the plastic pins pushed into place & then thats it, they stay there. Pin clicks into the hole at the end you are pushing it in from. Try putting a bit of washing up liquid on to help things but don't use a hammer it will probably break.
At the bottom of each leg there is a piece shaped like a letter 'D' and the curved part of the 'D' touches the ground. All you have to do is wind the leg about half way up, have the plastic foot in one hand and the plastic pin in the other. Offer the foot up to the bottom of the leg, push the pin through from the outer side and locate it in the slot on the opposite side. Slightly tap it through with a rubber or plastic mallet till it clicks into place. Job done and no need for any excessive force or a steel hammer.
Thank you Tango55.
Tried your method and they are now fitted to our new toy.
Your instructions were perfect and they went on easily, especially as we had a rubber mallet from our tent stock.
I put a stainless steel screw through the ends of the pins to stop them vibrating off, because we lost two by this happening. Six years later; and still secure.
