My wife recently acquired a second hand Raclet TT Floreal, which is in pretty good condition.

As I'm new to this, I have a few queries:-

1) Waterproofing the fabric covering - what do people recommend? (Not an issue, but prevention etc)

2) We have a few perished rubber bands - where to get spares? (Raclet UK not responding to my enquiry)

3) Luggage rack on top - We already have a box on ours, so looking for a luggage rack to go on top. What do people do?

4) under-bed tents - where to get from? do the SunnCamp ones fit?

Appreciate existing/prior owners pearls of wisdom on this!

Welcome to the world of TTs. To answer your questions;

1) NEVER water proof any cotton canvas as a purely preventative measure, as you will do much more harm than good. The water proofing solution coats the cotton fibres, preventing them from expanding and contracting, thereby removing the natural water proofing qualities of the canvas. Even if it does leak a little, only ever proof it as a last resort, as, 9 times out of 10, weathering the canvas, alone, will cure it.

2) The rubber bands are usually easy enough to get hold of on eBay, as they tend to be fairly generic. Difficult to be specific without seeing them.

3) Not quite sure what you mean here. Are you looking for a rack to go on as well as the top box, or is the box you are referring to on the A frame?

4) The Sunncamp under bed tents are fairly universal, and should fit the Raclet, although a bit of tweaking may he required where it attaches to the bed boards.

The one good thing about being wrong is the joy it brings to others..

1.   as above.....if you dont need to waterproof it then dont.

2. Raclet UK are useless.......you can buy the generic tent suspension bands or a large bag of normal heavy duty rubber bands....both work equally well.

3. Hard to find for Raclets......I've had and sold a few.....tend to sell for around about the 150 mark.......great pieces of kit....

4. Yes they do but the Raclet ones are better as they have the vents in the correct places...

We have a Raclet group on Facebook....if you use that then you are welcome to join. Just search for Raclet Trailer Tents & Folding Campers
