Just getting excited for the longer days and planning to open up our Pennien Fiesta over Easter to get her ready - husband is keen to service himself, any tips (particularly brakes) or should we just book her in for service?

Would appreciate any advice

For the amount it costs for an annual service its worth it and you will have peace of mind too, if you still want to do it yourself start with tyres if they are over 6yrs old change them regardless of how much use they have had. I am not sure what the chassis is on yours but if its alko it will likely have the one shot nuts on the hub unless you have a torque wrench capable of 290nm (I think) then don't take them off. To adjust the brakes they hubs can stay on looking at the rear of the brake drums there is a slot with an arrow insert a small screwdriver and move the starwheel one notch at a time in the direction of the arrow with the wheel raised of the ground rotate the wheel until you feel the slightest of resistance and do both sides equally.A simple way to check for gas leaks is to fit a level indicator to the bottle switch all appliances off and the bottle on noting the position of the dial and check its the same after 10 minutes or so this though is not really the correct way and minor leaks may still be present but it is a cheap way. Ensure all appliances burn nice n blue remove fridge vent and flue and clean and make sure all floor vents are clear, check electric sockets work and that the mcb are working,finally check all bulbs outside etc and that's about it apart from anything that would be obvious like lubricating jockey wheel corner steadies and locks

We have just had our 2010 Countryman serviced. It was done by a mobile caravan mechanic - very comprehensive - and it revealed that the camper was supplied with an already out of date gas hose. It also showed that the battery, which is used to power a motor mover, needed replacing. All this for just £122.

We don't get servicing done every year - last one was three years ago.

Also, as our outfit is now 6 years old, we have had the tyres replaced as is recommended.

Peace of mind is a wonderful thing.
