Hello.. As my hubby and I both work for a breakdown insurance organisation you would think we may have the answer to this question.. Not so..
We already have comprehensive vehicle breakdown and would like to cover only our pop up camper in case of breakdown.. does any one provide trailer cover only..? We can only find cover for car and trailer. Any help gratefully appreciated. Thanks, Viv

A 'breakdown' on the camper would mostly be a puncture that many users could change themselves. Provided you have had camper serviced, wheel bearing failure is unlikely & although brake linings can detach from shoes on very old brakes it's unlikely to stop you so you can conclude the only likely breakdown will be a puncture.

Speak to your breakdown cover provider. I'm with Saga & they assure me my breakdown cover including wheel change extends to any trailer or caravan I am towing.

Thanks! And yes, reasonable assumption. I have taken calls where for example the electrics have not been working together, car is indicating but trailer lights out etc, and some other calls that would not be covered, but I know that most service providers would cover wheel changes. If the wheel shears off though.. No chance lol..
You're right, down to maintenance. I guess a service is definitely in order, no idea when last one was! Thank you for your input. It is reassuring! We will follow your advice

If you are worried about light failure on an old camper, most likely problem would be from the 7pin plug into car towbar socket. These let the water in & corrode over the yrs so not a bad idea to get a new plug wired on.

My hubby is very impressed! He was looking at the car plug rather than the camper plug and thinks this is a much better option Thanks again!
